The Berlin Allianz spent three weeks in Los Angeles in December 2007 for the first ever CGS World Final. During those three weeks a lot of content was produced for our webpage. This is a comprehensive summary of the different kinds of content we produced.
Below you can navigate easily through 11 picture galleries, a plethora player and GM blogs as well as a couple of funny videos.
The Berlin Counter-Strike: Source team wastes little time in Los Angeles. After a brief night's sleep they are eagerly awaiting their entry into the practice rooms to play all the other teams.
Berlin Allianz practice mandatory team workouts four times per week. Here are some pictures from the first session, a long walk to explore Venice Beach.
The fourth gallery feature some shots from some TV work. The team was driven out to meet a camera crew to do some screen work in front of a huge German flag.
Practice makes perfect - with everything. That is why the players are taken to the Sony Stage to get an idea of what is waiting once the competition starts.
We boldly take you where no CGS fan has ever gone before...into the make-up room where gamers and General Managers are pampered for their apperance in HD-TV.
"I have made the Oakwood reception and lobby area my workplace and my office. As players, GM's and CGS crew commute through that area I'm usually tied to my chair with my portable computer on my lap. The workload never seem to end but there is always a chance to chat or talk to some of the people rushing by.
It certainly is a lot more enjoyable than sitting locked up in my obnoxiously big GM room all day."
"So first week has almost gone here in La. Sun isnt shining that much but weather is ok anyway.
We have had very intence practicing every day, but somehow i feel like i havent improvet at all. Actually i have became slower. Thats kind of crazy since we have put so much time on practicing last days. I hope one day off will fix things as saturday is planned as practice free day."
"It has been a week since the whole Berlin Allianz arrived safely in that sunny Los Angeles city, and everything has been great so far. I have practiced everyday 'til today, whatever it is 2v2 races with FinPro or on my own in Time Trial, and I believe all of that intense practice we've been up to those last weeks is gonna pay in the Worlds,
Out of practice, the more time is passing by, the more I enjoy being in Allianz. I mean, having team dinners every day, sport work out 4 times a week (gym, tennis etc) and team meetings really make a manager and 10 professional gamers look like a unity."
"The moment which all players waits so much time already come. I want to say, that the city is really nice and the people are friendship. Also I am very happy to see all guys from my team Berlin Allianz. We must do big job for the victory and I know that we will do it."
"We started the day with some awesome fruitloops before we started working out (yes, that's real life workout!).
After that we pracced first against Chicago Chimera and after that Rio Sinistro. It went really good, better than I thought to be honest. Its really fun to play against the other cgs teams cause we've never played them before (except for magnetik, mint and salvo of course) It got really boring to pracc back home since theres three teams that play cgs/cpl rules that are good, so it often went to antistratts instead of regular tactics."
Some poor sap is loading luggage out there too. I'm relatively comfortable and reclined in a leather seat at Gardermoen International Airport outside of Oslo. The long hours on the flight from LA went relatively fast as I slept for the majority of the crossing. Naturally the trouble did not start until I landed in Norway"
"When Rudolf pulled off that win last night, he showed that he deserves that kapten band. Everyone else also played solidly and did their thing. This is the 3 weeks of hard work here and months of work before that led up to that moment.
I know many people were starting to get homesick towards the end of our time here but i'm the opposite. I actually don't want to go back to freezing cold Sweden."
"Last night for my team Berlin Allianz was very hot. And I hope, that now all players understand, that it was not so easy match for us. After our victory David said a good words: each player must thing about his game and can't to hope for other teammates. Because each point is important - it is World Final.
Yeah! I am really happy, that I won my game and it was very important. Big thnx for our css team. They did good work. But now it's shoot time. We must to fixed our mistakes and try never repeat it."
"Well, I'm happy of what we managed to do, we took it to a close game against the american teams, they have way more experience and everything else but an all american final would be a surprise. I'm very proud over the tactical and I'm very proud of everyone in my team. It was a fun ride here and to bad we didnt make it to the final.
If I'm here for next season I hope I meet you all again."
