Welcome to Jonas' world

- Hey, I am Jonas Alsaker Vikan and I'm a General Manager.
Think about it for a second; how do you present yourself to someone who is «not in the know». How do you describe our sport and the mechanics that make it one?
Computer and video-gaming can have some very unforseen and amazing side-effects. You play because it is fun but before long you find yourself engulfed in international competition and you have become an athlete of a sport. To me «growing up» in this business meant I wanted more people to have the opportunities to enjoy the possibilities in the industry so I relentlessly pursued the Norwegian media where I lived for a chance to share.
As it would happen, Norway's oldest newspaper
Adresseavisen operates out of my native city of Trondheim. After ignoring my phone calls, emails and repeated requests for proper coverage of this
new sport they finally budged back in 2005. I met one of their journalists at the CeBit convention in Germany and he watched me and my team compete in Counter-Strike: Source. He was a gamer himself and enjoyed his first esport-experience.
The most direct consequence of this was that I was allowed to open the doors to my own blog-section on the internet version of the newspaper. Throughout that year mainstream audiences could read about electronic sports and tournaments around the world in
Jonas' world.
After I retired the segment did too but only to resurface during Berlin Allianz' run for the first ever CGS World Championships in Los Angeles.
I was able to do some video blogs but unfortunatly there is no way to embed them into this article like we do with Livia Teernstra's
Liefje living. If you want to see this footage you need to go to our
media exposure section where you will find all of them linked directly to where you can view them.
The written blogs are in Norwegian only so if you are not fluent in the world's most important language this is a brilliant opportunity to learn:
