14. July, Los Angeles, USA
It was an exhilerating Monday night for Berlin Allianz. The team came out of the gates swinging in their quarter final match against the Sydney Underground. Four out of the five games was won with Counter-Strike: Source only being lost on overtime.
That lead to a very flattering 26 to 14 point win for the European team.
DoA F: Livia «Liefje» Teernstra

«Liefje» came up big against Stockholm - taking her match 5 - 0 and she had a great night on the job against Sydney Underground's undefeated star «Eileen». The Australian girl had yet to lose in official CGS team matches but she was outplayed in the Kokoro mirror match on Waterfall Valley.
Teernstra was all over her opponent from the start of each round and despite round three coming down to both competitors on low health - she was in total control of the match. «Eileen» did manage to pull a point back as Teernstra had game point but she could not come back from the deficit she was facing. «Liefje» closed it out in the next round for a 5 - 1 victory that gave Berlin a great start to the match. The flattering result is in sharp contrast to Teernstra's opening match of the 2007 World Final where she lost by 0 points to 5.
2008 has been a great year so far for our Dead or Alive female player. Her hard work in the off season has payed off in dividends and she is currently at a + 7 this season after yesterday's match - she beat «Miss» 5 - 0 and lost by 3 to 5 to Salvo's «SarahLou» in the European Final. Her contribution will prove vital as we go deeper into the World Final.
FIFA: Rostyslav «Manyna» Nedoviz

«Manyna» came into his match with «Haroutig10» heavily favored to win. After all the Ukrainian star is undefeated in official CGS matches. Still it was the Australian player who scored first through a nice early header that had «Manyna» chasing the equalizer for the better part of the first half - and he got it to tie the game up.
The second half was all about Berlin's player - «Manyna» was all over his opponent and could finally break through to score the game winning goal in the dying minutes of the match to win it 2 - 1. It was yet another solid performance by the Berlin player who showed that he can cope with the pressure of being the favorite, and handle defensive opponents at the same time.
«Manyna» extended his season record to + 4 with two matches won 2 - 1 (vs «Istvan» and «Haroutig10») and one won by 2 - 0 (vs «Bazza»).
Forza Motorsport 2:
Philippe «Yggdrasil» Vaillant, Erno «FinPro» Kuronen

The racers won the team the game against Stockholm Magnetik by losing the race 4 - 5. The following night they came up huge when they had to against the Birmingham Salvo and won it by 5 - 2, thus forcing and overtime lap that Salvo won for a total score of 5 - 3. This gave them a + 1 record going into this match.
However, they came into the match with tremendous confidence spurred from their victory at the CGS World Individual Final this Saturday where they beat the top US team, Carolina Core, in the final.
Our racers had the first two starting positions last night but as «Yggdrasil» could avoid the early onslaught the race was in reality over early on. «Morpho» from Sydney was unable to gain on our French star and he could take the win and 4 points. «FinPro» fended off «cam» to come in third, thus picking up one more point making the final score 5 - 2 for the Berlin speedsters.
Their win was our third of the night and it gave us a comfortable lead going into the final two games. «FinPro» and «Yggdrasil's» 2008 record is now sitting at + 4 with 14 points for and 10 against.
DoA M: Rudolf «The Tactical» Fischer

«The Tactical» came into last night's match with Sydney's «Berzerk» with a + 1 record in 2008. However, he came off a disappointing loss to «El Divino XMAS» at the CGS World Individual Final this weekend and ha something to prove to himself.
It was clear from the get go that this was Rudolf Fischer at his most menacing as he went straight for «Berzerk's» troath. «The Tactical» played aggressive and kept pressure on the Sydney player who could not answer as the points was put in the Berlin bank. In the end it was a total shut out as «The Tactical» won it by 5 - 0 - something that should help inspire his confidence as well as his season record which now sits at + 6.

The Counter-Strike: Source match actually went live before «The Tactical» took the stage. Berlin Allianz started on the defending side of de_tuscan, a «new» map to most teams outside North America.
The half went back and forth with Berlin having the upper hand. At half time the score was 5 rounds to 4 for our squad and the overall game was over. Sydney Underground could not come back - even with a blow out in the second half. Still, as the CS:S team has struggled so far in `08 they really wanted to win their match.
Sydney took the lead but Berlin fought back and eventually the game ended in a tie, 9 - 9. This meant the CGS overtime rule came into effect where teams play one round with startmoney 800 - it's basically pistols at high noon. It looked as if the round would go our way but Sydney came up big and won it, and the match by 10 to 9 points.
That result leaves the CS:S team's overall season record at - 9 with 32 points lost to 23 won.
The overall victory 26 - 14 means Berlin Allianz will play the San Francisco OPTX in the semi-final on Monday July 21st.
