About the author
Jonas Alsaker Vikan is the General Manager of Berlin Allianz. He led the team to a European championship and a third to fourth placing at the first CGS World Final. The twenty six year old Norwegian is also a journalist.

Borrow and steal. The two are not admirable traits in real life. In sports they are essential to success.

Learning from top players is something every gamer will have to do from time to time. One of the most praised waysw of improving in Counter-Strike is by watching the professional's play. If you can not do that live you can now do that by watching the replays, or demos, through the Berlin Allianz demo player developed by David «olander» Olander-Persson.
.

Developed for you

Berlin CS: Source player «olander» is a contracted gamer - at the same time the young Swede is studying information technology. His interest for computers and the knowledge derived from this education led him to develop a utility to be downloaded free of charge for users of the Berlin Allianz webpage.

According to David the idea came to him as he was writing the article on his esport history. He remembered that he used to watch a lot of demos through a utility made famous as the SK player.

The simple program helped CS: 1.6 gamers across the globe. It was concieved by fellow Swede Andreas bds Thorstensson. «olander» inspired to make his own player customized for fans of the CGS and Counter-Strike: Source.

The interface of our demo player should be easy to understand. Photo: Screenshot

Frequently asked questions

As with any utility or program there is bound to be questions. Here are some of the most common bugs found - if you find others report them back to «olander's» CGS account and he will iron out the flaws in future releases.

Question:

When I press "Start demo" and Steam launches it says "Preparing to launch Counter-Strike:Source" but nothing happens.

Answer:

This has nothing to do with this program, HLSW has the same problem. The thing is that Steam can only handle a certain length of the arguments you send to the program. You should blame Valve. Easy fix: Place all your demos in C:/

Question:

CDemoFile::Open: couldn't open file. Sometimes when you start a demo with the demoplayer you get this error message in the CSS console.

Answer:

Place your demo in your counter-strike sourcecstrike folder and you won't have this problem. Or place them in C:/

If anyone else has this problem report it to me by mail here on the site.
I'm looking into it asap. Meanwhile try to state your error reports as detailed as possible, what demo you are trying to start etc, where you have your demo on your disk etc. This helps a lot!
thanks

Awesome utility, nice work olander. I remember using geekplayer back in 1.6 and it was great. Nice to have one for source now.

Nope, I'm way too scared of your GF , I guess she's jealous as hell (how couldn't she be when her BF offered a trip to Paris to her with the Eiffel tower)

Oh well, very good program, definately a keeper.
