4. July, Los Angeles, USA

We didn't even realize that we would be in America on 4th of July - the essential birthday of the country we today know as the United States.

On this day in 1776 the thirteen British colonies declared their independence from the mothercountry of Great Britian. War followed but the states stayed independent from the day of the declaration. It is a great national holliday and one we, as tourists and foreigners, enjoy spending with «the locals».

4th of July is a national holliday. We spent the first part of it on the beach doing something un-American: enjoying a game of soccer in the lovely California weather.
